Spine Program

Spine Program for Cervical and Low Back Arthritis and Degenerative Disc Disease/Sciatica

As a chiropractic clinic, Mosenthal Spine & Wellness specializes in treating low back pain. If you are suffering from persistent low back pain that is no longer responsive to over the counter (OTC) medications, receiving consistent steroid injections to manage your pain, or considering spinal surgery, we invite you to learn more about our comprehensive spine program.

Common conditions we treat:

  • degenerative discs
  • Facet joint hypertrophy
  • spondylolisthesis
  • bone spurs,
  • Spinal stenosis
  • bone bruising,
  • disc protrusions

When you have severe lumbar and or cervical disc and or facet degenerative problems and resultant symptoms, you have two choices:

  • Take your chances with surgery
  • Or do something different for the next 6 months which may help significantly reduce your symptoms and help heal your spinal tissues

Surgical treatment for disc disease should only be considered after at least 6 months of nonsurgical treatment. Hashim Khan, MD reports in his research paper, ‘Surgery For Lumbar Disc Disease,’ that “most cases of degenerative disc disease can be managed using nonsurgical methods, and do not require surgery for effective pain relief.”

We also know from studies that back surgery does not offer guaranteed relief, and that 20-40% of patients suffer from Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) following spinal surgery. The term refers to new or persistent pain that results from a buildup of scar tissue around spinal nerves following surgery.

Our Program

Before you opt for surgery, we encourage you to try the following therapeutic treatments as part of our 6-week spine program.

Functional Medicine Evaluation
The first goal of any chronic pain problem is to see where the inflammation is coming from and to treat it at its source. The literature reports that systemic inflammation from seasonal and or food allergies can be a cause of severe and on-going spine pain. Chronic inflammation from unknown causes like gallbladder, kidney, stomach or liver issues can cause arthritic spine pain. A detailed analysis of your body’s functionality is a good place to start in making sure that your spine pain is not being caused by some allergen or inflammatory situation in your body.

Posture Analysis
Many physical therapists encourage better posture for spinal pain relief. And rightly so. We use 3D posture analysis to show you exactly what muscles you need to stretch and what muscles you need to strengthen to achieve optimal posture. Many patients find tremendous spinal relief simply by correcting their posture.

Decompression Therapy
Most degenerative tissue symptoms are in part caused by the compression of the spinal units. As these spinal units get compressed, they become irritated. The only real solution in this situation is to decompress your spinal tissues. We do this by using our state-of-the-art Ergoflex low back decompression equipment.

Injectables
When we say injectables, we are referring to tissue healing injections rather than steroid shots. It is a well known fact that steroids, although pain relieving, are also known to speed up the rate of spinal tissue degeneration. We utilize ozone, peptides, platelet rich plasma (PRP) and human cellular tissue products (HCTP) to heal and regenerate damaged tissues. All of these injectables have been used with remarkable success in numerous studies and offer natural alternatives to steroidal products.

Program Qualifications
You must qualify for the program before we begin treatment. In order to determine eligibility, your x-rays and MRIs are first sent to our orthopedic partners. The orthopedic will review your images and determine if human cellular tissue products would be helpful or not for your case. If you are a good candidate, they will recommend the type of HCTP, the amount and the number of treatments needed.

Cost
The cost for the program is approximately $6k, the actual cost being largely determined by the orthopedist’s recommendation regarding the HCTP.

If you are receiving steroid injections or have been told that you are likely to need surgery or wake up every morning with so much stiffness and ache that you don’t know how you can go through this one more day, please call us!
